Street Art Encounters

  1. What a fine essay on this topic. Best I've seen. You've really captured the context and the experience. The effectiveness of the black and white treatment is a great surprise.

  2. Thank you, Mike. The wall paintings were shot in my former neighborhood in Long Island City, Queens, NY. It is only a couple blocks from PS1, an annex of the Museum of Modern Art which showcases emerging artists.
I only had a roll of Tri-X in my camera when I drove into this neighborhood. I was wishing I had color film when I started shooting but the black and white lend to a different point of view which I thought worked better.
